Inspiring convo guys - a goal of mine is to put on a Write Conscious event (or at least an event with WC alumni) in NY in the next year or two (once my band is active again) A full day event with music, art, poetry and talks. And y'all can crash at my place. Writing this down here to further cement it in my brain grooves.

Hype for Josh! Hype for Ian! Hype for the literary Renaissance!

Likewise Jeffery! I still listen to Being Born when it comes round the tape and go damn, that's so good.

Thank you thank you. That was one of those gift-from-the-universe poems. I was thinking that day "as soon as you are born, you are dying," and then the universe said to me, "it could be the other way around too."

I have a lot to think about after this conversation. I have an idea for live, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to try it yet. Also, I need to check out my local poetry scene and if there’s something I like, then cool, I could join it, but if not, then maybe it’s something I should spearhead

The live streams are pretty forgiving at the moment. If you schedule it, by announcing it your publications chat, you might have a better chance of a bigger audience.

I am so glad I found you on youtube! I'm a writer working on my first novel. I have a few short stories and poems out but not a lot yet. I love reading and writing. Literary Renaissance, let's go!

I'm really interested to see this podcast develop.

Out of curiosity, do you follow AI and its possible effects (negative or positive) on publishing? I wrote a piece over the weekend about this: https://antipodes.substack.com/p/ai-and-the-threat-to-traditional

The short version is that while AI sucks at writing (and probably always will, because the best it can do is imitate) it is actually as good at reading for quality as the current traditional publishing system—and possibly a little bit better. That doesn't mean it can tell great literature from deserving perma-slush, but neither can the current system.

I experiment with it. I have colleagues much more into it that are bullish on local first models for privacy and what not. Also, for real time translation, especially for audio, it's getting better.

I think it can act as a great proof reader (that's been grammarly forever), and it's getting crazy good at impersonation.

Non fiction especially it will do great. For example technical summaries or so.

Anything with a human touch, eh, idk.

Love Josh's work, meetings such as this cement the stone cold fact that the renaissance is here and gaining footing

Thanks Bence! I'm happy to be writing poems along side you!

Great conversation! I'm starting my own local business in Buenos Aires, and your topic about matching the medium with the message really made me reconsider my promotional methods for my upcoming business. I know it's not in service of the Literary Renaissance, but you still provided great value to me nonetheless. Thank you

Thanks Artie! Good luck with your business, yeah hopefully that works out. I think guerilla underground stuff could work well if that's what you are doing. In either case, best wishes!
