What’s up, everyone—welcome to the Thomas Pynchon Book Club and Course, where we’ll be reading one Pynchon novel each month!

Thomas Pynchon is the greatest living novelist, and to prepare for his new novel, Shadow Ticket, coming out this October, we have to START READING!

Pynchon isn’t the easiest author to get into, and I have no idea how complex his new novel will be, but with the five novels we’ll read between now and October, our brains will be attuned to the Pynchonian frequency!

A new addition I'm making to the clubs is posting an hour-long breakdown of the novel 3 to 5 days before the club so you guys can have some food for thought before the call.

New readers and seasoned readers are all welcome! The more perspectives there are, the better the calls go. If you can’t also make the call, that’s okay. I will record all the calls and upload them. But you can also just listen when it is live or say your thoughts on the book and leave if you’re busy.

So, we will read the harder/longer Pynchon novels

  • Gravity’s Rainbow

  • Mason & Dixon

  • Against the Day

after Shadow Ticket’s release. We will spend two months each on the novels above.

I will post individual book club/course pages for each novel and link them below, but here is the schedule we will be following

We will meet on Saturday mornings Pacific time (exact times down below)
