Can We Save Literature Without Becoming Grifters?

Escaping the literature matrix

Literature is in a tough spot right now. If literary writers continue “just writing” and watching the publishing world and academia collapse, eventually there will be fewer and fewer serious readers left, and the practice of being a writer will become archaic.

However, if we FORCE a literary renaissance by becoming literary Napoleons and conquering readers at all costs with malignant influencer-type promotion, the quality of work will slowly decline, and eventually lead to the same result.

Luckily, there is a third way.

This video is a study of a type of author, ranging from Leo Tolstoy to Robert Anton Wilson, who serve as the archetypal models we should follow to kick off a literary renaissance. I will break down six of these authors’ shared qualities and explain why their unique approaches to writing are exactly what we need to get the energy going in literature.

We don’t have to be clown writers. We also don’t just have to be humble writers.

This is the psychology of writer's possible evolution.
