Learn to Write With McCarthy with Ian and Others

Do you want to study Blood Meridian with other writers and learn McCarthy’s tricks? In the Blood Meridian writers group, I will post weekly videos breaking down McCarthy’s writing, create assignments for you to complete (that we will share), and meet with you weekly on calls to discuss Blood Meridian.

However, you don’t have to be a writer or have read Blood Meridian to join the group. There will be no spoilers in the calls. The last ten minutes of each call will be dedicated to discussing the book in a classic book club way.

I will release the first video on assignment by 9/10 for this book club!

I would still encourage you to join if you can’t make the calls because you can

• Watch the recorded calls, which will be posted below

• Discuss the book with me during office hours

• Chat with me in Substack messages about the book and have any questions answered.

All calls will take place at 8 AM PST on the dates below and run for 30 minutes

9/21 Read Chapters 1-5 and complete writing exercises

10/5 Read Chapters 6 - 11 and complete writing exercises

10/26 Read chapters 12 - 16 and complete writing exercises

11/2 Finish the Book and complete the final writing project
