What's up, everyone? Book number one in our 'From Silence to Redemption' series is 'Siddhartha' by Hermann Hesse.
This is an important introduction to literary fiction and will be a foundational piece for the future courses I plan to build.
Siddhartha is much like Albert Camus’ The Stranger; it has helped tens of millions of people transform their consciousness. Siddhartha isn’t on it’s surface a complex novel like Infinite Jest, 2666, War & Peace, and other classics.
But its purpose is to help us lean out of our Eurocentrism and start contemplating Eastern thought and methods of individuation while still staying within our Western comfort zone.
However, even if you’ve explored Eastern philosophy before, don’t let my description dissuade you; this novel is a beautiful reminder of what matters most in life and is a prime example for writers of how all of us can write something TRANSFORMATIVE right now.
Plus, as I said before, this book will be featured in many of my future courses, and reading it will save you time later.
You will only have 11 days to read the novel, but it should take most of you around two hours or so to complete.
I'll see you all soon!
I would still encourage you to join if you can’t make the call because you can
Watch the recorded calls, which will be posted below
Watch the course video for the novel, which will be released 3-5 days before the book club
Lurk and listen to the call while it’s live if you’re busy with your family, commuting, working, or doing whatever. I am 100% fine with you popping in, saying your thoughts, and leaving if you’re super busy!
You can maybe make it to one of our other 10+ book clubs every month
FYI, beginners and expert readers are all welcome :)
We will meet on Zoom on the date below at 9 AM for 40 minutes.
