Novelist as a Vocation Bookclub (Completed)
Read Haruki Murakami's masterpiece on connecting to creativity
Haruki Murakami is one of my favorite authors. In 2022, he released an English translation of his craft book. Murakami is a black sheep in the literary fiction world, as his approach to writing combines intuition and spartan grit. This craft book doesn’t feature drug-fueled stories like Stephen King’s or technical jargon conversations about buried verbs like Wallaces. However, Murakami captures the feeling of being a writer who is happy, healthy, and connected to the creative ether, unlike any other author. That’s what is most important! After finishing this book, you will positively change your life and mentality as an author. Most of us don’t need more technical writing advice but rather the freeing up of space to let our intuition guide us to greatness.
