I enjoy how you combine the mythopoetic with modern phenomena. This is what we need.

Love the negative spaces mid-line; adds really interesting rhythm to the piece

Thanks Sara!

Wonderful weaving of dimensions, opening up really exciting roads for your poetry!

BOOM! Thank you, Benno. You're the most multidimensional poet on Substack and have paved the way for showing the invisible reality we've both experienced.

Thank you brother, we continue to pave with words and I'm excited to see the roads you'll make through the desert!

I grew up in New Mexico, so you really transported me back to my childhood with references to cottonwoods, coyotes, and desert witches. Fucking cool poem!

Hell yeah! Thinking about moving to Taos, which I feel like is the southwest aesthetic end-game

What is this type of poetry called, guy . I’m new to this

I appreciate how you approach the poem with narrative in mind. I was pleasantly surprised having not read your work but enjoying your content for some time. You pivoted to poetry some time ago and I now see why.

Love when a narrative is somewhat interrupted with a "listen."

Thanks for this poem, Ian. I was inspired to experiment by collaging some of your lines that were strangely alive to me and see what it would feel like in a compressed form. Shared below in playful curiosity and respect as a fellow poet-mystic and not as an "edit" of your work.

Sekhmet's blood

ignited my infrared body

where the feds obliterated Kenny Veach

they'll never let us

this is why we have

fentanyl in the osprey's wings

listen: I hear helicopters coming —

with only two miles to go,

what are you saying?

he doesn't hear the coyotes crying

at the witch's temple

in the airless wind

It's cool how poetic voice doesn't just come through diction but the patterning of our organising principles. A physical reminder of the psychedelic hive-mind that is poetry, that is culture, relation, reality: part you, part me; us, not us... 🪔

This improv tinkering taught me a lot very fast. I'm remembering the value of this kind of writing-as-reading and setting the intention to mess around like this more.

This would be cool with some comic book-style illustrations, like William Blake meets Neil Gaiman.

This is my favorite poem by you! I see the vision, blending the city/commercial against a juxtaposing nature. Love it! Also works so well as a love poem.

Thanks, brother! Let's keep it MOVING!

Took me a moment to adapt to it but this is really my style, vague and fragmented. Loved the ‘orb swarm’ internal rhyme too

Thank you, brother!
